Carex foenea Willd. is a species of flowering plant in the family Cyperaceae. It is native to a range stretching from subarctic America down to the northern United States. Carl Ludwig Willdenow first formally described this species in 1809. There is disagreement about its taxonomic status: some botanical sources classify Carex foenea as a synonym of Carex siccata, while other sources recognize it as a separate full species.
