Scientific name: Carex breviculmis R.Br. Common name: Asian shortstem sedge. It is a flowering plant species belonging to the genus Carex. This species is native to Asia, ranging from the Indian subcontinent through Southeast Asia, China, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, north to Khabarovsk Krai. It is also native to Malesia, New Guinea, Australia, Norfolk Island and New Zealand. It has been introduced to Mississippi, a state in the United States. It typically grows in forests, and is quite tolerant of shade.
