About Carex atrofusca Schkuhr

Carex atrofusca Schkuhr is a perennial, loosely tufted cespitose sedge that grows approximately 6 to 30 centimeters tall. It has persistent sheaths that range in color from brown to yellowish brown. Its leaves measure 3–4 millimeters in width, and are roughly half as long as the plant's flowering stems. This species is monoecious: it produces 2 to 4 spikes per stem, where the uppermost spike is male, and the 1 to 3 lower spikes are female and nodding.
