About Carea angulata Fabricius, 1793

This moth species, Carea angulata Fabricius, 1793, has a wingspan of 42 mm in females. Palpi are upturned, and antennae are ciliated. Head, thorax, and forewings vary in color from pinkish red to reddish brown. The abdomen is whitish, with suffusion ranging from fuscous to reddish brown. Forewings have quadrate apexes. An outwardly oblique line extends from the forewing costa, and a curved double submarginal line runs from the costa before the apex to the outer angle of the forewing. Hindwings are whitish, with some pinkish shading on the outer margin below the apex. The known larval food plants of Carea angulata are Eugenia cumini, Eugenia jambos, Eugenia myrobalana, Eucalyptus, Ficus, Memecylon, Cleistocalyx, Bombax ceiba, and Syzygium species.
