About Carassius gibelio (Bloch, 1782)

Prussian carp (Carassius gibelio) is a deep-bodied, robust fish that resembles crucian carp (Carassius carassius). It grows to a length of roughly 10 to 35 cm, which is 4 to 14 inches. Its scales are larger than those of crucian carp; Prussian carp typically have 27 to 32 scales along the lateral line, while crucian carp usually have 31 to 35. This species is silvery, sometimes with a faint golden tinge, unlike crucian carp which have a burnished gold appearance. The tail of the Prussian carp is also more deeply forked than the tail of the crucian carp.
