About Caradrina morpheus (Hufnagel, 1766)
Caradrina morpheus (Hufnagel, 1766) has a wingspan of 32–38 mm, with forewings measuring 13–16 mm in length. The forewing is dull dark fuscous with a greyish tinge. Its inner and outer lines are obscure, double, and have arms that are far apart. The subterminal line is grey, with dark suffusion on its inner side. Both the orbicular and reniform markings are cloudy fuscous; the reniform has a slight fulvous stain on its outer edge at the middle. The hindwing is dull whitish; its cellspot, the veins toward the termen, and a slight subterminal line are all grey. The species has the following diagnostic features: forewings may be pale brown or darker brown and can have a glossy appearance; darker stigmata are clearly defined; the antemedian line is dentate; the postmedian line is poorly defined; the subterminal line is pale with darker mottled suffusion; the termen has dark lunules between the veins; the hindwings are pale glossy white with a small discal spot.
