Cantharellus appalachiensis R.H.Petersen is a fungus belonging to the genus Cantharellus, a group that also includes other well-known edible chanterelle species. This species is native to eastern North America. Its cap color ranges from brown to yellow, and mature individuals often develop a distinct brown spot at the center of the cap.
