About Campocolinus coqui (A.Smith, 1836)
The Coqui francolin, scientifically named Campocolinus coqui, is a bird species that belongs to the family Phasianidae. It occurs mainly in the southern half of Africa, and is also found sparsely in the western Sahel and Ethiopia. It is thought to be the most widespread francolin species across Africa. Its main habitats are grasslands, steppes, savannas, and dry scrubland, but it can also be found in open bright forests and grain fields. It can live at elevations of up to 2,000 meters on high plateaus. It remains a mostly resident species throughout its entire range.
