The black cuckooshrike, with the scientific name Campephaga flava Vieillot, 1817, is a bird species that belongs to the cuckooshrike family Campephagidae. It is also commonly called the African black cuckooshrike. This species is closely related to Petit's cuckooshrike and the red-shouldered cuckooshrike, and forms a superspecies with these two birds. It can be found in Angola, Botswana, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, dry savanna, and subtropical or tropical dry shrubland.
