Calystegia subacaulis Hook. & Arn. is a hairy perennial herb. It grows from a woody caudex or rhizome, and produces stems that do not exceed around 20 centimeters in length. Its leaves measure 3 to 4 centimeters long, and are triangular or arrowhead-shaped with small side lobes. The inflorescence bears morning glory flowers on short peduncles. Each individual flower is 3 to 6 centimeters wide, white or cream colored, and often tinted with light purple.
