About Calyptomena viridis Raffles, 1822

This species is a bird that reaches approximately 17 centimeters in length. Its plumage is primarily brilliant green, with a black ear patch, a widely gaped bill, a rounded head, a short tail, and three black bars on each wing. The beak itself is very weak, and almost completely hidden by the crest located above it. Males and females of this species are similar in overall appearance, although the female has duller plumage and lacks black markings on both the ear patch and wing coverts. This bird, the green broadbill, is distributed across Borneo, Sumatra, and the Malay Peninsula, where it lives in broadleaved evergreen forests.
