About Calpurnia aurea (Aiton) Benth.
Calpurnia aurea (Aiton) Benth. is a Southern African tree in the legume family Fabaceae. Its distribution ranges along coastal regions from the south-eastern Cape northward and inland to central Transvaal, with an isolated population located in eastern Zimbabwe. It most commonly grows as a small tree reaching up to 4 m tall, but can reach heights of 15 m when growing under forest conditions. This species bears abundant sprays of bright yellow flowers. Its leaves are pinnately compound and imparipinnate, meaning they feature a terminal leaflet. Its pods are thin and papery, straw-coloured, and measure approximately 10 cm in length.
