Caloptilia hypericella is a moth species belonging to the family Gracillariidae. This species has been recorded in Canada (specifically the province of Québec) and the United States, where it is found in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, and West Virginia. The wingspan of adult Caloptilia hypericella measures approximately 8 mm. The larvae of this moth feed on three species of Hypericum: Hypericum cistifolium, Hypericum punctatum, and Hypericum sphaerocarpum. Larvae create mines inside the leaves of their host plants as they feed.
