About Caloptilia alchimiella (Scopoli, 1763)
Caloptilia alchimiella, commonly known as the yellow-triangle slender, is a moth species belonging to the family Gracillariidae. This species is found in Europe and the Near East. It has a wingspan of 10–13 millimetres, which equals 0.39–0.51 inches. The forewings of this moth are purplish-ferruginous, with the dorsum suffused with yellow towards the base. A large triangular yellow median costal blotch sits on the forewing, and its apex is often rounded. Hindwings are dark grey. The adult moth flies from May to July, with flight timing varying depending on location. The larvae of Caloptilia alchimiella feed on Quercus species, Castanea sativa, and Fagus sylvatica.
