Calomeria amaranthoides Vent. is a tall, fragrant biennial herb that reaches up to 3.5 meters in height. Its stems and leaves are sticky; the leaves are green on their upper surface, whitish on their underside, and grow up to 15 centimeters long and 5 centimeters wide. It produces flowers in large brown to red plumes, which bloom in summer, from January to April within the species' native range.
