About Calocoris alpestris (Meyer-Dur, 1843)

Calocoris alpestris (Meyer-Dur, 1843) is a large species of plant bug. Adults of this species reach a body length of 9–11 millimetres, or 0.35–0.43 inches. Individuals have an entirely green body and a very elongated shape. The first antennal segment of this bug is very long. The base of the scutellum and the thin collar behind the head may show dark coloring. This species is very similar in appearance to Calocoris affinis, but differs by having a gray-whitish membrane with darker veining, and the first antennal segment is usually dark at its basal part. This species is distributed across most of Europe. It can typically be found in meadows, damp woodlands, and deciduous forests, and prefers mountain habitats up to an elevation of 2000 m.
