About Calochortus splendens Douglas ex Benth.

Calochortus splendens is a lily species that grows with a thin stem and only a few leaves. It produces flowers either singly or in inflorescences that hold up to four flowers. Each flower is surrounded by a ring of smaller, curling, ribbon-like bracts. The flowers are bowl-shaped and come in a range of purple shades, most commonly lavender. Each petal has a darker purple spot at its base. The center of the flower may have abundant white hairs, and the pollen is bright purple.
