About Calochortus longibarbatus S.Watson

Calochortus longibarbatus S.Watson is a species of flowering plant in the lily family, with common names long-haired star-tulip and longbeard mariposa lily. This species is native to Oregon, Washington, and northern California, where it grows in mountain forests and woodlands. It is a bulb-producing perennial herb that grows a branching stem reaching up to about 30 centimeters tall. Its flowers are upright, bell-shaped, and range in color from pink to lavender, with darker markings on the petals. Two varieties are recognized: Calochortus longibarbatus var. longibarbatus, which occurs across most of the species' full range, and Calochortus longibarbatus var. peckii Ownbey, which is found in the Ochoco Mountains of central Oregon.
