About Calocera cornea (Batsch) Fr.

Calocera cornea (Batsch) Fr. is a jelly fungus that grows on decaying wood. It belongs to the fungal order Dacrymycetales, a group defined by their distinct "tuning fork" basidia. This species produces yellow, finger-like, tapering basidiocarps with a somewhat gelatinous texture. Typical basidiocarps reach up to 3 mm in diameter and 2 cm in height. The hymenium covers the sides of the basidiocarps; each basidium produces and forcibly discharges only two basidiospores. Calocera cornea is inedible, and it is related to Calocera viscosa.
