About Callosciurus notatus (Boddaert, 1785)

Callosciurus notatus has a body length of roughly 20–30 cm (8–12 in), with a tail of a similar size. Its body weight ranges from 160 to 259 g (5.6 to 9.1 oz). Its fur is greyish-brown, with a chestnut-colored belly and a black and white stripe running along its side. This species is very quick and agile in trees, can jump several meters between trees, and rarely travels on the ground. Like all rodents, it has two large incisors in both its upper and lower jaws. The chestnut belly of Callosciurus notatus easily separates it from the similar black-striped squirrel, which has a grey belly.
