The comet, also called the marine betta, has the scientific name Calloplesiops altivelis. This is a species of tropical marine reef-associated fish that belongs to the longfin family Plesiopidae. It is native to the Indo-Pacific Ocean. It is most commonly found at depths between 3 and 50 meters, and can grow to a maximum total length of 20 centimeters.
