About Callithrix kuhlii Coimbra-Filho, 1985
Wied's marmoset (Callithrix kuhlii), which is also called Wied's black-tufted-ear marmoset, is a New World monkey. It inhabits tropical and subtropical forests in eastern Brazil. Unlike most other marmosets, groups of Wied's marmoset are made up of 4 to 5 females, 2 to 3 males, plus juvenile offspring. This species has a matriarchal social structure, and only the dominant female in a group is permitted to mate. Similarly to other marmoset species, Wied's marmoset always gives birth to pairs of offspring.
