About Callithrix geoffroyi (Humboldt, 1812)

The white-headed marmoset, with the scientific name Callithrix geoffroyi, is also commonly called the tufted-ear marmoset, Geoffroy's marmoset, or Geoffrey's marmoset. It is a species of marmoset endemic to forests in eastern Brazil. It is native to the Brazilian states of Bahia, Espírito Santo, and Minas Gerais, and has been introduced to Santa Catarina. In Brazil, this species is known as sagüi or sauim. Its diet is made up of fruits, insects, and tree gum. It acts as a host for Pachysentis lenti, an acanthocephalan intestinal parasite.
