About Calliphora augur (Fabricius, 1775)

Calliphora augur, commonly called the lesser brown blowfly or bluebodied blowfly, is a species of blowfly native to Australia. It resembles the eastern goldenhaired blowfly, also known as the common brown blowfly, but is slightly smaller, and has a central dark blue patch on its abdomen. This species is commonly found inside houses, and is known to cause flystrike in sheep. Unlike most blowfly species that lay eggs, Calliphora augur is viviparous and lays live maggots.
