About Calliphara excellens

Calliphara excellens is a species of jewel bug belonging to the family Scutelleridae. This species is distributed across Nepal and India. Males of this species perform ritualized courtship displays: they walk around the female, press their abdomen against a plant, and then touch the female’s antennae. After mating completes, the female lays her eggs inside the seeds of a host plant, an example of which is Macaranga tanarius.
