Callinectes arcuatus Ordway, 1863 is a species of swimming crab that belongs to the genus Callinectes. This crab lives along the Pacific coast of Central America. Its distribution extends along the Pacific coast of North and Central America, ranging from Mexico southwards. Its diet includes fish, molluscs, shrimp, and plant matter. Occasionally, populations of C. arcuatus become established in bays in southern California. These southern California populations are thought to consist of single cohorts that were transported to the area as larvae, and they typically die out within a few years.
