Callechelys marmorata, commonly called the marbled snake eel, is a benthic marine fish in the family Ophichthidae, a group named for its serpentine-shaped members. The marbled snake eel is a medium-sized fish that can reach a maximum length of 87 cm. It is widely distributed across tropical waters from the Indian Ocean (including the Red Sea) to the western Pacific Ocean. It lives on sandy and muddy bottoms near coastal reefs, at depths between 1 and 37 meters. This species is active during the night.
