About Caesio suevica Klunzinger, 1884

Caesio suevica has a moderately slender, fusiform, laterally compressed body. Small conical teeth are present on its jaws, vomer, and palatines. Its dorsal fin contains 10 spines and 14 to 15 soft rays, while its anal fin has 3 spines and 12 soft rays. This species can grow to a maximum total length of 35 centimeters, or 14 inches. The body of these fish is light silver blue, marked with fine gray stripes. A yellow line runs along the back, starting at the base of the dorsal fin. The ventral side of the body is paler in color. Each lobe of the caudal fin has a black blotch at its tip, which is bordered by a white band. This species is endemic to the Red Sea, and any records of it from other areas of the Indian Ocean are most likely misidentifications. The Suez fusilier lives in coastal regions, particularly on coral reefs, and occurs at depths between 2 and 25 meters.
