About Caconeura risi (Fraser, 1931)
This is a medium-sized damselfly species, Caconeura risi (Fraser, 1931). It has black-capped blue eyes. Its thorax is black on the dorsum, with a pair of narrow, slightly curved azure blue antehumeral stripes. The sides of the thorax are base-colored azure blue, marked with a black stripe that covers half of the thorax's posterior border. Its wings are transparent, with black, quadrate pterostigma. The abdomen is black, with azure blue markings on segments 1 and 2. Segments 3 through 7 have narrow azure blue basal rings. Segments 8 to 10 are azure blue on the dorsum, with black basal annules. The lateral side of segment 10 is black. It can be distinguished from other species in the genus Caconeura by its small size, the blue under surface of its head, and the tiny spine located near the base of its superior anal appendages. This species breeds in lowland forest streams, and is commonly found perched on riparian vegetation along shaded streams.
