About Cacatua goffiniana C.S.Roselaar & Michaels, 2004
This species is commonly known as the Tanimbar corella. On average, females weigh about 250 g (9 oz) and males weigh about 300 g (11 oz). Individuals measure roughly 31 cm (12 in) from head to tail. Like all members of the cockatoo family Cacatuidae, Tanimbar corellas have a crest: a group of head feathers that can be raised or lowered. Their bodies are mostly covered in white feathers, with salmon or pink feathers between the beak and eyes. The proximal, deeper parts of the crest and neck feathers are also salmon-coloured, but this colour is hidden by the white colour of the more distal, superficial areas of these feathers. The undersides of the wing and tail feathers have a yellowish tinge. The beak is pale grey. Eye colour is brown in females and black in males. Males are slightly larger than females, but the two sexes are otherwise similar in appearance. In captive conditions, Tanimbar corellas can live up to 30 years, which places them among the shorter-lived cockatoo species.
