About Cabangus regius (Pola & Stout, 2008)
Cabangus regius, formally described by Pola & Stout in 2008, is a small species of dendronotid nudibranch that reaches a maximum length of 30 mm. Its body is translucent white, with an overall surface tint ranging from milky white to pink. The tips of its dorsal appendages and the processes of the rhinophore sheaths are dark brown, and rounded dark brown spots of the same color are scattered across the back and sides of the body. The rhinophore clubs are bright orange, and some individuals carry extensive orange pigment across their bodies. A similar-looking nudibranch that has raised, pointed body tubercles and dark brown rhinophore clubs is thought to be a separate species. This species was first described from specimens collected at Bunaken Island, Manado, located in the Celebes Sea off Sulawesi, Indonesia. It has also been recorded from the Philippines, multiple other locations in Indonesia, and Sabah, Malaysia.
