About Bycanistes brevis Friedmann, 1929

This species, Bycanistes brevis Friedmann, 1929, measures 75 to 80 centimetres (30 to 31 inches) in length, and has a very large cream-colored casque on its beak. Its head is silver-grey, and the rest of its plumage is iridescent black, with the exception of the white rump, lower back, thighs, vent, and tip of the outer tail-feathers. Males and females are similar in appearance, except that the female has a smaller casque and reddish skin around the eyes.
