About Bullina lineata (Gray, 1825)

This species of bubble snail, Bullina lineata, has a milky-white mantle with iridescent blue edges. Its small black eyes are located on the head, between the head shield processes. The snail’s shell has a white base color marked by horizontally spiraling red-brown bands, which are crossed by vertical bands of the same red-brown color. Adult snails reach a length between 15 and 25 mm. Bullina lineata occurs in the sublittoral zone of the Indo-Pacific region, ranging from Japan to Australia and New Zealand. Ecologically, these snails are mainly found on coral reefs and rocky shores in the Indo-West Pacific. Their diet consists of Polychaete worms, which they obtain from sand patches on rock platforms.
