About Buellia erubescens Arnold

Buellia erubescens, commonly known as the common button lichen, is a lichen species belonging to the genus Buellia. It most commonly grows on tree bark, and occasionally grows on the wood of Quercus, Pinus, Juniperus, or other tree species that generally have low-pH bark. This species is common at elevations ranging from 600 to 3,000 m (2,000 to 9,800 ft), and occurs frequently in submontane to subalpine forests. Buellia erubescens is widely distributed across North America and Europe.
