The wingspan of adult Bucculatrix pomifoliella measures 7 to 7.5 mm. Adults can be found in flight between April and September each year. This species produces up to two generations annually. The larvae of Bucculatrix pomifoliella feed on trees and shrubs in the plant family Rosaceae. Known host species include Prunus serotina, Amelanchier laevis, Physocarpus malvaceus, and members of the genus Malus. Larvae create mines within the leaves of their host plants while feeding.
