About Brookesia thieli Brygoo & Domergue, 1969
Brookesia thieli, also commonly called Domergue's leaf chameleon or Thiel's pygmy chameleon, is a species of lizard in the chameleon family Chamaeleonidae. This species is endemic to eastern Madagascar, and its type locality is Ambodimanga, Andapa. It was first formally described in 1969 by Édouard-Raoul Brygoo and Charles Antoine Domergue, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed its conservation status as least concern.
B. thieli occurs in eastern Madagascar, ranging south to Ranomafana and north to Anjanaharibe-Sud. It has been recorded from the additional locations of Ambohitantely, Angavo-Anjozorobe, Analamazaotra, Mantadia, Marojejy, and Vohidrazana. It inhabits elevations between 875 and 1,200 m (2,871 and 3,937 ft) above mean sea level, and its estimated total range covers 43,865 km² (16,936 sq mi). Its preferred natural habitat is forest.
Brookesia thieli reproduces via oviparity, meaning it lays eggs.
