About Brookesia stumpffi Boettger, 1894
Brookesia stumpffi, formally described by Boettger in 1894, reaches a maximum total length of 9 cm (3.5 in) when fully grown, and has a documented life expectancy of at least three years. In 2007, Glaw and Vences recorded this species on small islands off the mainland coast of Madagascar. It is endemic to specific locations in Madagascar, specifically the northwestern region islands of Nosy Be (also called Nosy Bé), Nosy Komba, and Nosy Sakatia. The species is common within its rainforest habitat, and occurs at elevations up to 150 metres (490 feet) above sea level across a range of 61,884 square kilometres. For reproduction, female Brookesia stumpffi lay clutches of 3 to 5 eggs. When incubated at a constant temperature of 23 °C (73 °F), these eggs hatch after 60 to 70 days.
