About Brickellia veronicifolia (Kunth) A.Gray

Brickellia veronicifolia is a North American plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is widely distributed across much of Mexico, ranging from Chihuahua to Oaxaca. In the United States, this species is very rare. It is only found in the Chisos Mountains inside Big Bend National Park, Texas, and in Otero County, New Mexico. This plant is a shrub that can grow up to 90 cm (3 feet) tall. It produces large numbers of small flower heads that are pale yellow or cream-colored. Brickellia veronicifolia contains high amounts of essential oils, including Germacrene D, a natural insecticide, as well as two flavonoids called brickellin and eupatolitin.
