About Brewerimitella ovalis (Greene) R.A.Folk & Y.Okuyama
Brewerimitella ovalis (Greene) R.A.Folk & Y.Okuyama is a rhizomatous perennial herb that reaches a maximum height of approximately 35 to 40 centimeters. All of its leaves grow around the base of the stem, and it has no cauline leaves. Each leaf has an oval blade up to 5 centimeters wide, with toothed, lobed edges, and a petiole between 1.2 and 8 centimeters long. The plant produces 1 to 3 erect inflorescences, each holding 20 to 60 flowers that typically grow along one side of the stem. Each flower is borne on a pedicel 1 to 2 millimeters long. The distinctive flowers are saucer-shaped, with five greenish-yellow petals each divided into narrow, whisker-like lobes. Bloom color ranges from yellow to green, and blooming occurs between April and June. After flowering, the plant produces a capsule fruit containing seeds that are either reddish-brown or blackish in color.
