About Brenthia pavonacella Clemens, 1860

Brenthia pavonacella, commonly known as the peacock brenthia moth, is a moth species that belongs to the Choreutidae family. This species is found in North America, with confirmed locations including Illinois, Maryland, Iowa, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. It has also been officially recorded from Mexico. The wingspan of adult Brenthia pavonacella is approximately 9 mm. In the state of Illinois, there are at least two generations of this moth each year. Larvae of this species can be found between early July and early September. The only recorded host plant for Brenthia pavonacella larvae is a Desmodium species from the legume family Fabaceae, documented in Illinois.
