Brahmaea wallichii Gray, 1831, commonly called the owl moth, is a member of the Brahmaeidae family (the Brahmin moths), and is one of the largest species in this family. This moth species is distributed across northern India, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, China, Taiwan, and Japan. Owl moths are nocturnal. Their wingspan measures approximately 90 to 160 millimetres, which equals 3+1⁄2 to 6+1⁄4 inches. They live in both tropical and temperate forests.
