Brachyscome decipiens is a herb that produces leaves whorled at ground level. Its leaves are egg-shaped to narrowly elliptic, smooth, 2โ19 cm (0.79โ7.48 in) long and 5โ37 mm (0.20โ1.46 in) wide. Leaves growing from ground level reach 10โ30 cm (3.9โ11.8 in) in length and have a smooth texture. Leaf edges are either smooth or toothed near the tip, the leaf surface is smooth, and the base is sometimes purplish. Smooth flower bracts are arranged in two rows, shaped like lances or ellipses, 5.5โ9 mm (0.22โ0.35 in) long and 1.5โ4 mm (0.059โ0.157 in) wide, with prominent glandular purple edges. Ligules are about 5โ11 mm (0.20โ0.43 in) long; they are white on the upper surface and occasionally mauve underneath. The flower heads are 12โ18 mm (0.47โ0.71 in) in diameter, white or pale blue, and held on a broad, smooth peduncle 8โ20 cm (3.1โ7.9 in) long, with a yellow center. The fruit are brown, one-seeded, flattened along their length, egg-shaped, 2.3โ4.6 mm (0.091โ0.181 in) long and 1.2โ1.7 mm (0.047โ0.067 in) wide. Flowering takes place from September to March. This species, commonly called field daisy, grows in subalpine and mountainous woodland and swamps in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales.
