About Brachypelma klaasi (Schmidt & Krause, 1994)

Brachypelma klaasi, also commonly called the Mexican pink tarantula, is a tarantula species that is endemic to Mexico. It is the rarest species within the genus Brachypelma. This species occurs at elevations between 300 and 1400 meters above sea level. It is found on the western slopes of the Sierra Madre Occidental, and in some areas along the western edge of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt, within the Mexican states of Jalisco and Nayarit. Its documented range stretches from Tepic, Nayarit in the north to Chamela, Jalisco in the south. The largest known population of B. klaasi is located at the biological reserve in Chamela.
