About Brachydiplax sobrina (Rambur, 1842)

Brachydiplax sobrina (Rambur, 1842) is a small dragonfly species. It has dark-brown eyes. Its thorax is yellowish-brown with black metallic markings. In adult individuals, all of these thorax markings are obscured by a layer of bluish-white pruinescence. The dorsum of its abdomen is black. For sub-adult and newly emerged teneral individuals, the abdomen sides are marked with broad yellow spots. In adults, all of these abdominal markings are obscured by blue pruinescence. Females of this species have the same appearance as teneral males. This dragonfly breeds in marshes, ditches, and ponds.
