About Boykinia aconitifolia Nutt.

Boykinia aconitifolia, commonly called Brook saxifrage and Allegheny brookfoam, is a vascular plant species belonging to the genus Boykinia. It is native to the southeastern United States, with a range extending from West Virginia to Alabama and Georgia. This species grows in wet woodlands, along the edges of ponds and lakes, and other moist habitats, and it flowers during the summer. It produces both basal and cauline leaves, whose petioles measure between three and eighteen centimeters long. Most leaves are kidney-shaped (reniform), but they may also be round to heart-shaped, with three to seven lobes. Its seeds are black and covered in small tubercles. Per the Southern Appalachian Species Viability Project, Boykinia aconitifolia faces high extinction risk due to sedimentation and other pollutants.
