About Bowenia spectabilis Hook. ex Hook.f.

Bowenia spectabilis Hook. ex Hook.f. is a cycad species belonging to the family Stangeriaceae. This species is endemic to Queensland, Australia, where its native natural habitat consists of subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The range of Bowenia spectabilis in northeastern Queensland extends from the McIlwraith Range on the Cape York Peninsula south to near Tully. As a rainforest species, it grows near streams and on sheltered slopes within lowland wet sclerophyll forest, and can also be found at altitudes up to 700 metres in the Atherton Tableland.
