Bothrops mattogrossensis (scientific name: Bothrops mattogrossensis Amaral, 1925) has distinctive coloration on its supralabial scales. These scales are either uniformly colored, or bear large dark markings that cover 50% of the supralabials and always connect beneath the eye. Large dark markings also appear across the species' body, and the head has stripes surrounding the eyes. In terms of reproduction, Bothrops mattogrossensis reproduces sexually and is ovoviviparous.
