About Bothriechis supraciliaris (Taylor, 1954)
The scientific name of this species is Bothriechis supraciliaris (Taylor, 1954). Adults of Bothriechis supraciliaris usually have a total length (including the tail) between 50–60 cm (20–24 in), and the maximum recorded total length is 80 cm (31 in). The species shows variation in body colour: individuals can be bluish-green, reddish-brown, or reddish-maroon, but most are bright-green or moss-green. In cross-section, the body shape ranges from circular to ovoid and rhomboid. The dorsal surface has irregular blotches that sometimes form crossbands, and the belly is pale in colour. At midbody, there are 21–23 rows of dorsal scales. The head has dark stripes, plus prominent positioned scales above the eyes. The only recorded sexual dimorphism for the species is that females are typically longer and thicker than males. This species has a restricted geographic range, covering southern Costa Rica (the region between San Isidro and San Vito) and western Panama. Its entire geographic range overlaps with the range of the closely related species Bothriechis nigroadspersus.
