About Boiga melanota (Boulenger, 1896)

Boiga melanota, commonly known as the western mangrove cat snake, is one of the largest cat snake species found in Asia. This species occurs in Thailand, West Malaysia, Singapore, and Sumatra, Indonesia. Its body is a shiny bluish black, marked with 40 to 50 yellow stripes. Its mouth and throat are yellow, while the ventral underside of the body is yellowish black. Its eyes are grey in color. The western mangrove cat snake is classified as a mildly venomous snake.
