About Boerhavia triquetra S.Watson
Boerhavia triquetra S.Watson is an annual herb with somewhat variable appearance. In general, it grows in loose clumps, producing erect stems that reach up to half a metre in height. It has lance-shaped leaves with wavy margins, and a branching inflorescence that holds either clustered or single flowers. Each pale pink flower measures only one or two millimetres across. After flowering, it produces clustered tiny fruits: club-shaped, ridged achenes that are less than 3 mm long.
This is a hardy plant that grows in arid, rocky, or disturbed areas, and often occurs as a roadside weed. It is fairly widespread across the south-western United States and northern Mexico, and is native to California and Arizona, where it grows in habitats of the Mojave Desert and Sonoran Desert.
